Jan Borghardt

Jan's main focus area is private client orientated. He utilises a broad based skill set when representing clients in purchasing real estate in the Bahamas and obtaining financing from both local and foreign lending institutions. Jan also provides advice in obtaining Permanent Residency, Annual Homeowner's cards or Work Permits for non-Bahamian clients.

Well versed in advising foreign corporations, lending institutions and individuals interested in investing money within the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Jan coordinates closely with numerous governmental departments and agencies in order to facilitate an efficient, amiable interaction with his clients.

Recent Work:

Over the past year, Jan has been engaged by clients with respect to real estate transactions on various islands in the Bahamas, as well as several luxury gated communities in and near Nassau, New Providence. Some transactions are highlighted below.

  • Representation of purchasers within the gated communities of Lyford Cay, Old Fort Bay, Ocean Club Estates and Ocean Club Residences, totaling $ 35 million;
  • Representation of a purchaser for the $ 8 million acquisition of a private cay, and providing advice on the proposed Mixed-use Resort Project thereon, worth in excess of $250 million.
  • Disposition of real estate on Harbour Island, Eleuthera, totaling in excess of $30 million;
  • Representation of numerous purchasers within the Albany development - developed by the Tavistock Group, Tiger Woods and Ernie Els - and providing advice on issues related thereto;
  • Providing advice on the $75 million development of 43 acres on New Providence, with respect to a residential development of more than 200 Townhomes and approximately 70 residential lots.
